QUALIFICATIONS

Ÿ   Valid Washington State teaching credential

Ÿ   Appropriate area endorsements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ÿ   Successful experience working with special needs students

Ÿ   Experience in inclusion and understanding of mandated requirements of special education

Ÿ   Ability to deal positively with staff, students and parents

Ÿ   Knowledge base of special education compliance forms

Ÿ   Effective use of developmentally appropriate practices

Ÿ   Use of a variety of teaching strategies

Ÿ   Direction of integration/inclusion services for special needs students

Ÿ   Effective use of communication

Ÿ   Knowledge base of learning modalities and motor therapy

Ÿ   Knowledge of special education legal obligations and a willingness to keep abreast of

      legal procedures

Ÿ   Knowledgeable of 9-12 special education curriculum and program development

Ÿ   Knowledge base of initial evaluation and reevaluation procedures

Ÿ   Ability to utilize computer applications

Ÿ   Ability to work with students having a wide range of abilities
