Notice of HIV/AIDS Prevention Education Program Meeting AND what it takes to excuse your student
Dear Parents of a 5th -12th grade students:
Washington State requires ALL public schools present HIV/AIDS prevention education every year to 5th through 12th grade students. The Wilbur School District presents an age appropriate program for these grade levels. Robin Higginbotham-Jasman R.N. our school nurse will be the presenter.
A meeting will be held on Tuesday January 29, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in classroom 2 of the high school court. Parents will have an opportunity to preview the HIV/AIDS prevention education for grades 5th through 12th. Student instructional materials will be available for your inspection. This will enable you and your child to have some meaningful family discussions both before and after the classroom presentation.
Following this preview night, parents who wish to have their child excused from participation in this class may sign a release form. State law provides that a parent or legal guardian must attend such a meeting before they can excuse their child from participation in the HIV/AIDS prevention program.
